MagnussonCOUNSELLING

Virtual counselling · Surrey, BC · Metro Vancouver

I help people work through whatever is getting in the way.

Something from the past. Something you’re dealing with right now. Or a version of yourself you haven’t been able to reach yet.

Think of it less like fixing something that’s broken, and more like building something that lasts.

A line I mean

Healing is not the absence of struggle. It’s the confidence to face it.

Who I work with

Tired of being stuck. Ready to be honest.

I don’t have a particular age, background, or life situation in mind. What I’m looking for is a certain kind of person — someone who shows up wanting to leave better than they arrived.

Adults and teens aged 13 and up. Individual, couples, and family. My goal is never to keep you coming back indefinitely. Get in, do the work, leave with the tools. If you come in ready, I’ll meet you there every time.

  1. Anxiety, stress, stuck

Everyday weight that doesn’t lift. Thoughts that won’t quiet down. The feeling that you’re circling the same thing.

  2. Trauma — the word I hear most

It’s an umbrella. It means something different for every person. I like to get specific: where is it showing up — thoughts, feelings, behaviours, or all of it?

  3. Relationships

Couples and families who want to communicate better, work through conflict, or close the distance that’s opened up.

A first session

Warmth. Maybe a bad joke. No pressure.

  1. 01

    Walk in as you are

Walking into therapy for the first time can feel intimidating — and I get that. You don’t need the perfect words.

  2. 02

    We get to know you

The first session isn’t about diving deep. It’s about who you are as a person, not just what brought you here.

  3. 03

    Leave a little lighter

I want you to leave feeling safe, accepted, and encouraged. Not overwhelmed. Not judged.

How change works

I help people solve problems. I view them as puzzle pieces.

  1. 01

    Trust first

Before anything meaningful can happen, a person has to feel safe enough to be honest — with me, and with themselves.

  2. 02

    Accountability

Growth asks something of us. Showing up. Sitting with discomfort. Looking at the parts that aren’t working.

  3. 03

    Capacity is already there

Most people have more capacity for change than they realize. What’s often missing is the support, the tools, and the confidence.

  4. 04

    Keep it simple

I look for the pattern, name the core, and say it so it lands. Healing isn’t the absence of struggle. It’s the confidence to face it.

Change doesn’t happen overnight, and it doesn’t happen in isolation.
